“Gemuetlichkeit” is a German concept for a state of good cheer, and there is nothing more German or cheerful than the classic combination of salted pretzels and beer. Although the state of Bavaria cancelled Oktoberfest in 2020 due to the pandemic, thanks to a genius collaboration between Snyder’s of Hanover and the Captain Lawrence Brewing company, a flight to Deutschland was not required to celebrate. The Snyder’s Pretzel Keg is a pre-packaged combination of 27 ounces of Snyder’s baked pretzel rods and a five-liter keg of Captain Lawrence’s Marzen Style Oktoberfest beer.
“The Captain Lawrence Oktoberfest is a smooth and malty lager that is the perfect accompaniment to Snyder’s of Hanover pretzel rods, with notes of toasty bread, honey, and a hint of chocolate,” Scott Vaccaro, Captain Lawrence Founder and Brewmaster, said in a statement. “This collaboration was inspired to help consumers feel like they were transported to Oktoberfest without ever leaving their homes.”
To no one’s surprise, this unique custom-made, limited edition Pretzel Keg sold out before the end of the month, but due to its success, we hope this winning duo makes a return next year, even if international travel has not. Prost!
