And today in strange-yet-real things in the world… a wide-eyed Shiba Inu on a pack of the most expensive hot dogs the world has ever seen. What’s going on? I’ll try to catch you up, but I only have a cursory understanding at best.

In case you’re like me and largely unaware of the Crypto Craze, cryptocurrency is a unique asset in that most forms are decentralized, meaning that, unlike the US dollar, there is no central bank that manages or controls its value. Each one also comes with a very passionate fanbase – here at ForeFront, it is Nathan, who will tell you anything and everything about Bitcoin. One of the quirkiest crypto communities follows the Dogecoin.

The Dogecoin community’s tenet is Do Only Good Every Day, a backronym created to inspire positive, kind acts to promote the cryptocurrency. It also has this adorable and funny Shiba Inu as its mascot. Oscar Mayer’s latest promotion taps into that sense of goodwill with- you guessed it, “Hot Doge” wieners. To raise money for Feeding America, Oscar Mayer auctioned off one pack of the Hot Doge wieners, and the winner also received enough cash to purchase $20,000 Dogecoin. The auction closed earlier this month with a winning bid of $15,001.

Honestly, there is so much I love about this. I love silliness, cute dogs, and good causes that bring people together. If auctioning off a pack of hot dogs is what it takes to raise several thousand dollars for Feeding America, I’m all for it! I’m not sure if I can get behind Dogecoin, but I can absolutely Do Only Good Every Day.
