Optimize Your Packaging

It’s always exciting to see packaging trends we’ve blogged about previously hitting the mainstream. While celebrity endorsements are nothing new, utilizing technology to bring packaging to life and provide an interactive experience for consumers is becoming increasingly popular. The latest release from Yuengling brewery is a perfect example.

On May 8th, D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., announced the return of their limited-edition Team RWB camo cans. The Traditional Lager camo cans support Yuengling’s partnership with military veteran nonprofit Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) as part of Yuengling’s Stars & Stripes program – the brewery’s year-round initiative supporting military veterans. The cans feature a sepia-toned camouflage print, Team RWB logo, and a QR code that was co-branded with American country music star and official Stars & Stripes program Brand Ambassador, Lee Brice.

Yuengling announced in their press release, that when scanned, the “QR code will immerse fans in a digital Stars & Stripes experience, inviting users to enter an exclusive giveaway to win a Lee Brice Party Pack; learn more about Team RWB and donate to the organization; listen to Lee Brice’s new album; tour the Yuengling brewery or shop online for Stars & Stripes merchandise.” Packing so many features and exclusive opportunities in the QR code ensures that Yuengling and Lee Brice fans alike will be snatching these cans off the shelves. This is a step above last year’s Stars & Stripes release, when the brand unveiled the world’s largest QR code.
